Course Description and Prerequisites
Managerial accounting focuses on the needs of management for accounting information to make informed decisions in the internal operations of a company. Topics include decision-making, accounting for planning and control, cost-volume-profit relationships, and budgeting.
Prerequisite: ACCT-130
Student-Centered Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze fundamental cost behavior and cost systems to identify optimized operation
- Propose basic costing solutions by applying costing methods to financial data
- Evaluate performance measures
- Articulate the role and purpose of managerial accounting, including the relevant ethical issues
- Apply cost information to support managers in their decision-making process.

You can access the book and Connect software at the Champlain College Campus Store. You will have the option to purchase the access to Connect which comes with the eText. Your other option is to purchase the hard copy textbook with the Connect access code.
Please note, if you purchased the book and Connect software license for your use in ACCT-130, you can continue to use that license in ACCT-140. The license is good for 18 months.

Discussions
Weekly discussions are an integral part of learning at Champlain College and represent a significant portion of a student's overall grade. In order to be successful, students should:
