Hiding Pages

When you create a page in your course, you will have the ability within the settings to “Hide the Page” from Students.

This feature can be used if you want to add Instructor-only notes to your course or any other page you don’t want your students to view.

Remember: Even when setting a page to be hidden from your students, it will still be visible as an item in the Module it is located in. Students will not be able to access it. If they click on the hidden page, they will receive a message that they are “unauthorized.”

Hiding Modules

If you want to you can “lock” a module in Canvas, which limits access Students can have to it, until a certain date. To do this, you would click the pencil icon in the module, and check the box within the settings to lock access to the module until a certain date.

Remember: Even though you’ve locked the module, students can still view the Module contents, they are simply grayed out within the Module and not clickable.
